Just thought I would start this. For those that don't have much dino-related to talk about, but still would like to visit a bit.
Me, I've been busy with house and yard work. Which is the norm for me during the summer months. And which is why I don't get much done, online, or at the modeling bench during this time of year.

Hey Trevor! Just dealing with the heat, it will be over soon thankfully. I think we break the all-time record today of days over 100 degrees. Lost a number of shrubs/hedges this year, they fried! Been really slow too, I guess from the economy. It can only get better though. Fishing has been good. Trying to catch a fish called a bowfin(amia calva), but no luck there. Plenty of bass though.

I remember when I used to have time to fish. Oh, the simpler days. When the kids were little, we didn't have internet, and I wasn't back into modeling, and hadn't picked up about 4 other hobbies.

I think the last time I went fishing or even camping for that matter, my oldest boy was about 2 years old. He's 19 soon to be 20! i wouldn't even know how to any more. I swear that next year, I'm going camping and fishing with all 5 of my kids, in the pines, no matter what! I think it's almost time to take a break from ALL hobbies and start enjoying the outdoors again!

I have always been a big outdoors type, and used to spend a lot of time fishing. When I was growing up, the family and I would all go fishing together a couple of nights a week, and I would fish during the day frequently on top of that. While in high school, I had a job at a local tackle shop, and even learned fish taxidermy. Over the years, while sporadic, I would find the time to go at least once in a while, on top of fossil hunting and snake collecting. Around 1999, I pretty much quit going, as I was spending too much time in the hobby. Fast forward to last year, when I started going on a regular basis again. Forgot what I was missing. Good way to clear your head and reflect, and get away from it all. I don't know if any of you guys watch "River Monsters", but I got in contact with Jeremy Wade last year, and ended up sending him Alchemy's "what if" dunkleosteus kit. He's working on a new season of the show at the moment. I have thought about making a kit of one of the man-eating catfish seen on the show...the Goonch.

Actually had a chance to sneek a day or two of fishin' in myself - didn't do squat and dislocated four ribs after one trip! My one kid was catchin' a few so I hung in there......
The band is starting to get busy after taking 3rd at Last Band Standing, but we're hoping for some down-time soon to start some recording (on our own, with Pro Tools...another time-consuming "hobby").
Got two bow tags, but I haven't tried pullin' a bow back with the ribs - my (other) kid, filled my buck tag with a nice 3-point (6-point to ya'll back east). Was hunting with his cousin, who got a pig of a buck and two days later a bull elk that scored 305!
The boys are back in school, so I've been breaking up my days going to their football practice everyday (and still working graveyards).
Only modeling activity I can admit to, is tracking down spare parts to complete the Prehistoric Scences kits, laid out a rough sketch of my Tamiya diorama; broke down and bought extra kits to get more bases for the lay-out ( let me know if anyone is interested in just the bodies for the triceratops and chasmasauruses), and researching/ deciding if I'm going to get into the JP/ Horizon 1/30 vinyl kits.
Almost ready for the down-time of fall and winter, except it took so long for summer to get here this year.....like the second week of July! Maybe will actually work on a kit or two, after the kids go through football, then basketball, then wrestling, then........ ok, only five more years and they're off to college....maybe, then!?!?!

Man, I need to make time to go fishing next year. No time this year. I still have 400 sq-ft of roof that needs new shingles, and a back door that needs replace. While I work 10 hour shifts 6 days a week. Shame too, as I have prime fishing all around me. Lake Erie Conneaut Creek Both within easy walking distance of my house (about a mile or so)

That is Conneaut Lake. www.conneautlakepark.com/index.htmlWhich is about 30 miles south of me It is open again, and Blue Streak is up an running again. About the only tourism we get here is for the fishing, and the wineries.

That Creek looks sooo gorgeous! You're lucky to live so close to that beauty. I love the Fall colors and this time of year. Don't care too much for winter! I know there is fishing around me but have no clue where to go. This'll give me time to study and find out.

That is a beautiful creek!!! Kinda remainds me of the Gasconade River by my friends cabin in central MO. Havent been doing much modeling lately. Im getting ready to replace the engine in my 2001 Focus - broke a piston. Need to power wash the house and get the yard ready for winter. Hopefully I can get back to modeling this fall and winter. Work has been slow too - auto industry in St Louis area has really taken a hit in the last couple years, no one wants to spend money on repairs unless absolutely necessary. Will be going to my buddy's cabin in a couple weeks to help clean up the area around it - hopefully we can get a little fishing in too along with some BBQ ing and a beer or too!!!!! Steve

I know I won't get any fishing done this year. But maybe I will get a chance to at least get out and take some more pics of the creek. The fresh air would be nice.
Right now I am just trying to recover from my weekend. Friday I drove 150 miles for a concert that ran from 2-11:30, then drove home. Then Saturday I drove another 100 miles in the other direction for a concert that ran from 4-11, then drove home. Then I pulled 12 hour shifts yesterday and today. Looking at at least 10 hour shifts through Saturday. I need a nap.

Cool! Wish I had that much time left. I only have 2 days remaining. Will probably have to burn one around Thanksgiving to either pick-up or take my daughter back to college.

Wait a minute Trevor, on the concert thang, were you playing or viewing? ' Cause I also had a gig that was 5 hrs. one-way! Had to work Fri. pm - Sat am, travel, sound checked, played Sat. nite, 5 hours back and onto work Sunday @ 11:30 pm! I'm with ya on the nap thing - which I should be doing right now! But I just started my vacation, even as I write this, so I thought I'd check in. If you weren't playin', then who did you go see (hear?!).........
