I think this is a Lindberg kit---I misplaced the box. Bought fifteen years or so ago. Neanderthal's body is filled with weighty caulking material. A work in slow progress, skin tones were hard to mix. Cast with a chest rug, but no other body hair. I am having to improvise with streaks and drybrush dabs of Nato black. He will eventually acquire some gray and maybe some scars. Attachments:

I remember having this kit as a kid in the 70s. I was never too fond of it- the skeleton glued together kind of awkwardly- making it look like it had some kind of deformity! The whole thing was a little unbalanced too- it wouldn't stand upright and tip backwards. I had to keep it pushed all the way back on it's shelf, against the wall. Nope, not a fan.

The skeleton was simplistic. The fleshed-out caveman betrayed his instability right off the bat: his feet and ankles are part of the base with only small nubs to fit into the sockets of his shins. I took no chances, installing posts and filling in the legs to really make him stick in place. Anyway, here he is with a little more paint. He ought to be done in a week or so. Attachments:

It's looking great! Reminds me of the caveman character from the film LAND THAT TIME FORGOT.

This one has been on my wish-list for a while. I'm glad you posted such a nice buildup example. Inspiring!
That packed prehistoric Speedo he's wearing is a little laughable, though.
