I just saw the new movie Dark Shadows. Its set in the year 1972 and I found it pretty cool to see one scene where the boy in the movie is playing with a Prehistoric Scenes Styracosaurus! Check it out.

That's a great period touch! I'll keep an eye open for it when I get around to seeing DARK SHADOWS. A similar AURORA models sighting happens in the film SUPER 8. But the number of recent monster figure models included in the shots with 1979, period models drove me nuts!

My friend Brian - who runs the Plaid Stallions website for 1970s toys & products - was contacted by the set designer for Dark Shadows and asked what would make good props for the boy's bedroom in the film. Brian was happy to see that they followed his shopping list!

Wow. I didn't know they contacted Brian. I've got a ton of catching up to do at the Mego Museum too, after WF. Haven't been to the forum in well over a month now

Saw DARK SHADOWS this evening. The boy character, David Collins, is not only playing with a PS Styracosaurus but there is also an Allosaurus on the couch behind him. He's also playing with a sauropod that I can't place as being from the 70's. And later in the film he is holding a stuffed animal toy of a triceratops that is also difficult to place from the 70's, what with it's early-90's, dayglo coloring. Loads of other 70s toys & games littered about musty, dusty Collinswood Manor too!

Google'd for DARK SHADOW images and came across this one from the scene where David Collins is playing with the PS SPIKED DINOSAUR (Styracosaurus) and a PS ALLOSAURUS (laying down on the couch behind him.) Attachments:

ALSO- a surprise image- from a scene NOT in the theatrical version I saw. Looks like a cameo from the PS FLYING REPTILE (Pteranodon)! And other dinos I'm not able to identify- anyone have a clue? Are they period for early 70s? Attachments:

They are more recent figures. There definitely was no Spinosaurus figure in the 70s, from anyone.
