Ok. In an effort to get this part of the site a little more active. What other companies did dinosaur kits?
Off te top of my head, I can think of Lifelike, Pyro, Bandai, Lindburg and AMT.
After I get an idea on more companies, I want to start a thread for each one, to kind of start sorting out who did what kits, and if they were new, or someone elses tooling.

Tamiya has a cheap line of three kits and has a larger line that is very nice, I've never seen Bandi dino kits but I have a bunch of their Godzilla and Ultraman kits. Lindberg and Pyro cross paths with a couple kits and did AMT or REVELL come out with 3 kits, T-REX, Trike and . I'll take some pics and dig through some boxes soon.

i build them all but never painted them That sounds like the way I used to be. Loved the building part, but actually dreaded the painting part. Used to have a bunch of stuff laying around here that got as far as the final primer, but never got farther than that. I'm enjoying the painting part more now though so I paint them as I build them. Feel free to show off your build-ups, even if they aren't painted. That way we get a chance to see the kits for exactly what they are. Sometimes a great paint job will hide a lot of kit flaws. Seeing them built but not painted will give us a chance to see what the actual sculpt is like.

BATTAT: I know these are not kits but they are technically models. I really liked these dino's. I had them all even though not all are showing. Sorry about the size of the pic. Unfortunately I don't have a larger one.

What about Horizon and Kaiyodo Vinyl kits? Does anybody know where I can get my hand on an Apatosuarus from Horizon for inexpensive? They have them on EEeeeebay but most of the cheapies are from Thailand!

Anyone know anything about the Kaiyoda 1/35th vinyl series that shows up on e-bay from time to time? I have never seen one completed or opened to see if they are on "quality" scale (as well as size scale) to incorporate into the Tamiya diorama series. Any thoughts............tried to google and can't find a good web-site either.

I bought the Kaiyodo vinyl models back in the 90s. They are very well engineered and detailed for being vinyl. The vinyl itself is stiffer then some others which it good. Most of them are 1/20th scale with exellent detail. The 1/35th Trex has crisp detail and is just a bit bigger then the Tamiya Trex, hight and length and the stance is much better then the 1/20 scale kits that have almost no movement to them. The 1/35th Allosaurus on the other hand has a good stance but the vinyl is just too smooth and shinyand it looks like maybe there was too much mold release applied or it was pulled from the mold too early. The detail just doesn't match the crispness of the other sculpts in the series. the pic shows the two 1/35th dinos on the right with Matt Mannits's Allosaurus between them; it does match the scale of the other allosaurus. On the left are the Tamiya Trex and Parasorolophus with the rest in the back the 1/20th kits for comparison. i1140.photobucket.com/albums/n570/jeffbrown2/2011-02-20_21-23-36_310.jpg

Just checked out the seller on e-bay, he also has three more dino kits listed. One listed as a "dinosaur bird" by Takara. Didn't even know there were any other "different" dino kits listed right now but, then the last time I was on e-bay I was mainly checking out the Pre-Scenes. As always, can't have too many saber tooths, think I'm up to five (?) now!

He also has a bunch of old Godzilla/Gamera stuff, and robot stuff. The guy is selling a huge collection of old Japanese kits that I would love to have, but don't have the money, or the space for.

Yeah, same here. Never enough room for everything or enough cash. Like I mentioned yesterday it doesn't hurt to look.
