Looking great so far Jeff! The indentation on the base for the small tree stump (bottom right corner) was intended as an option for the modeler to place their own JS stump there if he/she so chooses since the stump never really had a position on the JS base anyway. Jeff finding another tree or plant to place there is also a great option. One can never have too many plants!!!

Plants, did someone say plnts? Check out the Prehistorix website we have just released a whole range of Prhistoric scenes plants including a medium tree fern. That might fit? Check them out. Lovely castings, top notch. prehistorix.wix.com/prehistorix

The Pachy is really amazing. I'm definitely ordering at least two. It is one of my favorite dinos.
I see some of the tall trees in the background of one photo. Those are cool too. You definitely should cast those. Maybe make a mini forest base or "stand of trees" One thing I've done with things I need to be smaller to fit on a base is think of the item as a juvenile or younger version. Or possibly a slightly small er version of the same species. Not everything in nature is full grown or the max size.

Finished up the mold boxes last night and going to start making the molds this weekend after two tries getting that 5 gal bucket of rubber here intact; there's an unlucky FedEx driver slipping on 5 gals of silicone rubber residue in the back of his truck somewhere in the US; I'm sure its not the worst thing they've ever spilled I would guess. As far as the trees go they were originally for the swamp I was making but that's next in line after I get the Lystrosaurus done so Steve and I talked it and we're going to include a tree (your choice) to go with this kit. I started a large cycad but let that go for awhile until I get the kit out first with one of the other 3 trees that are done and sitting in mold boxes. two of the trees have separate roots/stumps that can be connected or not depending on what you want to do with it. I'm not sure if they will stand on their own separate from the base with the roots connected until I cast up some and try it; originally that was the idea. if you want to glue the tree to this base the roots can be left off (no room for it), and since they're completely detailed they can be used as a tree stump somewhere else. with all the knobby skin texture and horns on this beasty and all the scales on the trees these are all going have to be pressure cast I assume. I bought 3 used pots off EBay probably 7 to 8 yrs ago now, two 20gal and one 30gal but never got them set up for casting. they came from some bankrupted company that used them to spray some kind of industrial adhesive, really nasty stuff. it took a month to get them cleaned out but the seals were ruined and I had to pull all the connection hardware off; not sure if I still have any of it and don't remember now if I actually cleaned any of that. so, I'll try to gravity cast a couple and see how it goes. the tree tops will have to be roto-cast so they can actually sit on top of the tree without destroying it. I'll also cast wire into the trees so they don't sag over time. they'll still be top heavy so don't know if they will stand on their own. I bought some resin pigment, brown, blue, green and I think red; not sure if I ordered yellow or not but didn't get any. I may be able to pour some with custom colors depending on how fast the resin gets used up; just ask. I've bought 11 gals of resin and had them ship it all to me in separate 1 gal containers so it would last longer without exposing it to moisture in the air; so it should last awhile. The last time I sold a kit there was no Pay-Pal, just checks and money orders. I'm going to have to get the account I use to pay with set up to receive; not sure what that will take or how long. I'm guessing about two more weeks and the Pachy w a tree and 3 or 4 little shrubs will be available.

Well, all the molds are finally done; 20 in all, that includes the trees that sat in mold boxes for the past year. I added about 10 to 20 % less catalyst to the rubber to slow down the process so I had enough time to degas and pour everything before thickening up too much so going to let them sit a few more days before trying to cast anything. Got the new parts for the pressure pot and put one together last night; going to pressure test it tonight. while looking for the pieces in my garage I found another pot inside the Big one I must have bought and forgot about. looks like a 2-3 gal pot and think it will be more convenient to use and safer then the big ones and it looks to be all there just 100% solid rust like someone covered it in rust powder. I'll get to that one tonight also. the last time I used my roto caster it broke; don't remember exactly what broke I just remember it did. will pull that out and get it going too for the tree tops. took vacation for all next week so I will hopefully have some copies ready to take to Wonderfest; that's the goal right now; I don't think I'll actually have one painted up for the show but at this point. if you want one and will be there, look me up; I'll be around all weekend. also; an instruction sheet is being worked right now; I have not seen it but it will be a single view from what I've heard and should be done within a few more days; hopefully I'll have some copies to go with the models at the show.

I'll keep my eyes open! But since I usually have a thousand things going on at once, if you see me, grab me.

I can't wait to buy one or two. I won't be at Wonderfest because I'll be out in Montana digging for real dinosaurs. It's something that has been on my bucket list since being a kid.
