I will be using this thread to show my Atlantis tyrannosaurs rex. You will see it here, before it hits the website. That's it for now. I know. I'm a tease. Really, though, just not enough time. I've got a ton of pics I took, and it's going to take me a bit to get through them. You will see them here in this thread as I get to them. So, it will kind of unfold, in progress, and in order.

Here is everything that you get in the box. And here is a comparison with an original kit (top)

I thought I would be in favor of the rerelease using the exact same colours as the original kit, since I love the glow parts, returning art work, logo, etc. --- and I still would have been fine with the red plastic for that reason -- but I have to say that I think Atlantis made the right choice going with orange. It brings out the detail nicely and looks a little less surreal. Although I wonder if Jack Kirby got the idea for Devil Dinosaur from the original kit, since that comic debuted a year or so after the Aurora kit.
Nice shots, Trevor - great thread idea.

I totally agree with everything you said there. I too really like the Atlantis orange choice. Makes the kit look cleaner and sharper than either the original red, or the reissue green. (It will also continue to make it easy to spot an original loose kit)
I still have more pics coming. Contents of each bag. The instructions, etc.

Yeah, I have the re-issue green (to go with my (2) Atlantis kits) - it makes it look a little Godzilla-ish for some reason.........

Yeah, I've always associated orange with a Tyrannosaurus Rex than any color and now I wonder why since the Aurora kit was originally a "red" but I guess I've always seen it as an orange-red since childhood. And DEVIL DINOSAUR! THAT I've always associated with the Aurora kit- awesome observation! The glow parts? Are there orange equivalents as well- or only glow?

Only glow. Same as the original. And yeah, the original red does have an orangishness about it.

Just before Christmas I received a large box from a friend who just so happened to put a Atlantis Rex in it and sent to me. THAT was a nice present to receive! ;D For now, I will leave it in the original box, unopened and sealed. This gives me All three colored Rexes now. YIPPEE!!!

Cool.
And if you didn't know, KitKong has them on sale right now, for less than $50. If I had extra cash right now, I might get a few more, but sadly, I don't.

Forgot about this too. Thanks for the inside insight. I opened mine a few months back and now I'm struggling deciding whether to build it or not?!

Build a spinosaurus!

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have a Spino conversion set. I may do my own version of spino someday. I'll think of something eventually. You know, like a Carcharodontosaurus or a Giganotosaurus or both. Not a priority right now. Too many other conversions going on!!! Just wondering out loud....

Just thought I would mention it, as Mike is still selling them. See them listed on ebay pretty regularly still.

Yah, I've noticed. Been checking them out for awhile. Very hard decision. I have a limited fund that I'm drawing from that I can't justify getting a copy right now. I have some side projects going on that may eat up those funds quickly. A very hard decision indeed!

Yeah. I hear you. I'd really like to see what Mike still has and maybe get one or two more. But right now, I just can't commit the cash to something like that.
