I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Mike at Alchemy is looking to do a Spinosaurus Conversion set for the Aurora/Monogram/Revell/Atlantis T-Rex. I'm not sure who's going to sculpt it but I think Mike wants feedback to see if this is a good idea and who's up for it!

Actually, I did mention it in the Atlantis rex thread.
But thanks for starting a new thread for it. It really deserves it.

Hmmmm?...must've missed that. Oh well, I figured it would/should be mentioned in the "add-on" section anyway.

I'm definitely in favor of it - as always, a lot depends upon the quality of the kit though. I think some of the add-on conversions are really cool, others look silly - same as the "what if" kits -- really like some, while others (like the giant sarupod) I like the idea of, but dislike the sculpted kit.

I would be the person doing the sculpture. We haven't green-lighted it yet, as we haven't gotten any feedback on it.

Do you have a sketch or other information on what it would look like? I think people here, at least, are certainly in favor of it. But we're an easy crowd, when it comes to Prehistoric Scenes.

Oh crap, then I guess this now means that in addition to getting two kits of the Atlantis Tyrannosaurus (one to build, one to keep just in case), I'll have to get a third for the Spinosaurus conversion!!! Assuming of course that it comes out.

Well I bought (2) Atlantis kits with the assumptiom we could cajole Mike into re-visiting the conversion kit. NOW I feel guilty about talking him out of it when he (they?) thought about doing it a couple of years ago, when the only T-Rex kits available were going for $600 - $800 on e-Bay. You can put me down for one conversion and probably one for another "member" wants the other Atlantis kit I got for someone else to do the same. Do we need to get a showing of about 50 to make it worth Mike's time?

Hey guys. If you have any interest in this idea, I suggest you contact Mike directly. mikeevans@usapathway.com
Even if you aren't sure, because you don't know what the sculpt looks like. Contact him anyway, and let him know you like the idea, just not sure if you would pay for one until you have a better idea what it would look like.
I haven't contacted him, because I know that right now, I wouldn't be able to buy one even if he did make it. Just not in my budget for the year, and probably not next year either.

Shot Mike an e-mail this AM to express my interest in the kit conversion. Hope others interested are doing the same. Does anyone know if the Atlantis release is still being limited to 1500? Of course, that's a good ratio to sell a possible 100 conversions, yes/ maybe?

Sorry to hear Mike may scrap the spinosaurus conversion with Denncomm proposal for a styrene - hope that comes to fruition. Anyone need a T-Rex or two.......?

Yah, I had to break the news to him at WF. He seemed a little disappointed, but knowing Mike, onward and upward!

Maybe we could research a possible mod-head that might also work now that Atlantis has hit the market....
Also, did Mike mention anything on the bench for any new "What ifs"?
