Just curious what other prehistoric favorites you have.
Me, I like the Bandai wind-up dinos. Lots of fun to build.

I had a couple of those as a kid- still have them around somewhere. But I was too young to put them together myself- and my father was too impatient to put them together properly with the wind-up mechanisms inside- so I have just glued together, non-walking Bandai wind-up dinos!

I have a few other Dino models besides the Aurora ones that I am slowly working on. Here a couple of them:

Ooo! The JP dinos. I had all 5 that Lindburg put out right after the movie. I really outdid myself on the Spitter (for my skill level at the time) But sadly over the years, it has fallen over a couple times and needed repaired, and is still missing a few claws.
What is that black one?

I am not sure who made that one. It's a little dusty at the moment, sorry. I have looked all over the model and there is no logo or company name or anything. Anyone recognize this model?

It looks like an older version of the T Rex model put out by AMT/ERTL in 1993! Back in '93 I found the T Rex and a Triceratops by AMT/ERTL that I had never seen before- so I grabbed them straight away! The AMT/ERTL version I have is in light grey while yours looks like either black or a very dark green? So I'm guessing that the version I have is a reissue and what you have is an original- but by whom?!
Did AMT have dino kits back in the day?
MPC's Fundimensions put out a Stegosaurus plastic model in the 80's- but no mention of any other dino kits other than the one "Scenes In A Bottle" kit.
Also, AIRFIX put out Dimetrodon and Corythosaurus kits in the late 70's/ early 80's that i know of because I have them- I don't know if AIRFIX put out any other dino kits butthe look and style is very similar to the T Rex in the picture above.
I'll try to get pix up of the boxed kits that I've mentioned sometime before this weekend.

I just did some online research- it's an AIRFIX T Rex. Apparently in the early 90's AMT/ERTL reissued it. But AIRFIX has/had a series of dinosaur kits: T Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus (exact same as MPC Fundimensions'), Dimetrodon, Brontosaurus and Pteranodon. They had been reissued in two group sets a few years back: (T Rex, Triceratops & Stegosaurus) and (Brontosaurus, Dimetrodon & Pteranodon) Pix of them can be seen at The AIRFIX Tribute Forum: airfixtributeforum.myfastforum.org/ftopic15794-0-asc-40.phpI think I'm becoming a big fan of these! They're sort of a "inbetween" of the Aurora PS line and the Pyro/Lifelike line.

Maybe start a new thread for these kits Trev? Yeah, sure. Go right ahead. That is one of the reasons for this forum. I have often thought about tackeling the task of sorting out the other dino kits. Some of which have been through so many producers, it is hard to know who did what, and where exactly it originated from.

THe Brown dusty T-Rex is an old Airfix model. I Have it and the duckbill. They REALLY look great with paint on them. I think the thing I like most about it is it have the eyes in the front of the head and it also looks like a stop motion model. I think some of the old Airfix models were recast in 2 different boxes of 3 models a little bit back. I am looking for the box that had the Pteranodon and Sailback.

These Airfix/MPC Dino's were also the bomb. I guess these remind me a lot more like mini versions of the PS. I've lost a few over the years but still have a few; Bronto and Corythosaurus. T-rex and the Trike are missing parts. I'd eventually like to start finding and remastering the whole set again. I beleive there were 8 total?!

I really like the newer Tamiya 1/35 models. I've done the new Tamiya Diplod. Diorama. It's a great looking model when done but still not nearly as fun as the Prehistoric Scenes. I think what I like about the Prehistoric Scenes is the slightly cartoon quality — it just makes them so much more fun. Plus, I feel I can really push the colors on them, rather then something that is modeled more realistic. GV
