Her she is, a very basic coat of paint on her and the base. Lots of work still to do. I scrapped the tall conifer on the base as I didn't think it was in-keeping with PS tradition. I've kept the stump and I'll be happy with the bleak bare rock and roots. Its very Ray Harryhausen which is what I wanted. No drool just teeth and a barely visible tongue. Very happy with the subtle brow horns and missing the articulation ridges. I'd like to think its just different enough but keeping the spirit of the original. Many thanks to Kurt for the inspiration. Mobing that jaw was more difficult than I thought. Attachments:

The claws are splayed out and fit exactly on to the rock base so she stands up. A candle flame and a file helped. Also detail of the putty brow horns . Attachments:

Hey that turned out really well. It's rewarding when you're finished to have an original design crafted by your own hands! Well done sir!!!

Many thanks both. I like the building bit, to me that's the fun. Its the painting I struggle with. Making up my mind is always difficult. But this time I'll use the suggestion on the box, hows that for a real change! Green with a bit of yellow. I've got four 'fangs' in the loft I can do a fancy one another day.

That looks really nice. As far as painting. I understand. I used to really hate when I finished the building and got to the painting part.
Now, after a few more years at it, I am a lot more comfortable with a brush in my hand. Though I do sometimes struggle with what colors I want to use.

I have done the simplest paint job possible. Green all over washed with black and dry brushed with a hint of yellow/green. Brown claws, eyes and teeth gloss varnish. Body silk varnish. Attachments:

I ended up simplifying the base by removing the proposed giant conifer. I kept the tree palm stump I modelled in putty. I think I did a decent job on that It more exotic and in keeping with the original bases. After all I wasn't trying to create a museum quality model, just a fun one. I also cut the polystyrene block of the base down by an inch with a bread knife as it was too tall and distracted from the model. Nearly there. Attachments:
