Well, in case you hadn't noticed, things have changed around here a bit.
Proboards upgraded their software from V4.5 to V5.
Which was a massive change, that basically rewrote how they did everything.
I've actually known it was coming for quite a long time. (like 6 months or more)
But, since my life has been so busy and hectic, I hadn't really even looked into it yet.
Until it hit my forum for our local medieval faire.
Which was quite a pain, as that forum was created years ago. Back when I had lots of time and energy. And it was all new and fun. So it had lots of customization and special graphics.
Which meant the place looked nothing like it was supposed to once the upgrade happened.
And most of the users I have there are really not tech savvy and very resistant to change.
In other words it was something of a nightmare. Especially dealing with it on xmas day!
I finally figured out how to tweak most of it and how to use the new admin software.
So I went ahead and volunteered this one for upgrade this morning. Just so I could fix it all back up while I still had some idea what I was doing.
Let me know if something doesn't work the way it used to.
On the bright side, I might actually do a few more tweaks to this place now.
It is a lot easier to customize things than it used to be. At least doing them brand new. (not so much when trying to recreate what you used to have)
There are also some new bells and whistles that I might try out now too.
So, there could be some surprises coming in the future as time and whims present themselves.
Also, while I am talking about board stuff.
We are starting to get close to the limit of storage for images.
That is, the images that are attached in posts here on the board. Only allowed 200 megs, and we are around 170 right now.
What that means is that I will be moving some of them to be hosted on my site and editing the posts to reflect that.
And some that don't seem like they are worth keeping might just get deleted completely. (don't know if any will actually fall into that category, as I haven't even looked at any of the hosted pics yet, or the context they are used in the posts)
Just giving everyone a heads up so if there is anything you really want to make sure you have, you copy it now. I shouldn't loose anything in the transition to hosting them myself, But you just never know when things will go sideways when dealing with tech stuff.
