I started on a group of lystrosaurus last week. Each is about 6 to 7 inches long and I think I'm going to have them all in one kit on one base; at least two of them if not all three. I'd like the base to be no bigger then maybe 3/4 the size of the Triceritops base, maybe about the size of the Dimetrodon base or a hair larger. I'm going to finish up the animals before I figure what the base will look like or where it would fit. I'd also like to have hight to the base like the Dimetrodon but its not necessary. I'm not going to have them on the Swamp base I started a few months ago; that ones going to sit for awhile longer; still working on the trees for that one. Anyway; I was wondering if anyone has a preference or ideas for the base look or position.

I'm up for these critters. We need some other interesting creatures for the Scenes. I have no suggestions as to where a base would go though, for the moment.

These look truly excellent, how about a long thinner base behind the horned dinosaurs, with them walking side on,would give a nice sense of scale as well.

I'll place my order now! For a base, standard Trike/ Spike/ etc. always works for "generic" positions and possibilities! Just to keep it easy for ya!

Don't know where you are with this, but going through some "maps" from other PS'ers and not knowing where Scott Banks is with his projects, please refer to these map for possible ideas.. 1. The area indicated as "Jungle Swamp Extension" 2. Similar shape as, or part of the Iguanodon base to use with the Sailback/ Jungle Swamp in it's original intended position. 3. One complete base to replace the CM-man and CM-woman in the original map. Attachments:

These are very cool. I'm definitely up for this. I'm in the process of redrawing my base layout and I have a few interesting blank spots. Some of those I've already sculpted and casted bases, but i have not started selling them yet. I'll share photos. The main area I'm adding too is near Iggy.

I think the position should be close to the Dimetrodon. A swampish type area. Or close to the Protoceratops or Plateosaurus. They look kinda swampish though.

Maybe after the success of the Pachycephalosaurus kit, he'll be in the zone to finish these bad boys up!

Yep; I'll get to them after the Pachy is up and running. I cleaned up my workroom last week getting ready to get the molds made and hit the little guys with the sweeper; there was about 1/2 inch of dust on them. they still look the same as the pics above. As far as a base, I like Andymoscarts idea of a long thinner base behind the trike wrapping around to the mammoth base, kind of like their migrating, maybe a couple Little members too..I was thinking about a river crossing like in walking w dinos but I think that's too ambitious too large. maybe later another base behind them with a river w some predators, who knows, just thinking/texting out loud.

started working on the lystrosaurus again. fired the body of the first one and working on the legs for that one now; they should be done by mid next week. after that I'll start on the other two. been doing some thinking about the base; at first I was going to do a small herd of three just walking now I think that's expanded to maybe up to five. been thinking of doing a river crossing with one lystro still in the water being attacked by one or two crocodilian type beasties, this all molded into the base if I can get it done like that. I'll have another climbing up an embankment looking back and then have the other three walking away. its a bit ambitious but I've already started on the first three and also started a jungle swamp water way so if I can swing it I will combine the two as long as it looks good,if not I'll do a separate base. the one thing is, if I put in an embankment then it will not match the other PS bases at least on that one side. well, I got some time to think it through, while I do these three. got some pics uploaded to photobucket..they are not in order. I believe this is the link; s1140.photobucket.com/user/jeffbrown2/library/Lystrosaurus

The critter in the background is Shane Foulkes walking whale ambulow ceatous kit. I saw original sitting on his table at wonderfest a couple yrs ago and knew what it was instantly from the walking with documentaries. I asked him about it, he said it was originally a privot commision but the guy backed out after it was almost done. He said, if he got 6 ppl to pre order a copy he wuold mold and cast it. I think I was the first to give him the money on the spot. I didn't hear anything for more then half a yr but finally enough folks pre ordered I guess. When I first put it together it pushes off the log leaning about 45degrees. I didn't like that so cut off the key on the foot, filled in the log and drilled a hole for a stiff wire and reset it upright. Its an under water scene so eventually I'm going to add a couple thin wires coming out of it's nose with clear resin drops to represent trails of bubbles as it swims but that will be down the road some time if ever. I've got dozens of shanes pieces put together but nothing painted/finished. I've never painted well and certainly not well enough to do his pieces justice so they all sit unpainted. Oddly enough, I told him that at wonderfest once and he said he also builds tons of pieces that then sit around unpainted. I've got tons still in boxes too, he said he'd rather build them up and leave them unpainted then let them sit in boxes. I agree. I assume this piece is still available.

One more thing, just finishing up the last leg for this beastie, should fire it tomorrow. This leaves just the tusks left to do then do a little cleanup and the first one is finished. Was going to do some molding once this is done, redo the peachy head, the name plate and a copy of the original PS swamp tree along with this piece. I've had this mold rubber sitting since molding the peachy kit awhile back. I figured it should be good for a little longer but saw tonight that the catalyst has eaten through the bottle and is leaking all over. I flipped it on it's side and hopefully it's still good. I'll email the manufacturer this week and see if it's still ok to use. I may have to get another bottle of the catalyst but I've got the better part of 2 gals of rubber that costs a boatload so don't want to waste it.
