I've been mentioning that I jumped on the bandwagon in regards to modifying the kits. Well, here is a look at the project I decided to tackle I've never been happy with the static boring pose for the Flying Reptile. And have been wanting to give this a try for quite a long time now. I notched out a little area in both elbows Then, used my heat gun to fold the wings forward I now have the holed puttied up, and am getting ready to add the ends of the wings. I will do one at a time. Putty it up. Then bend it backwards. I am shooting for something like this

Tay I salute you Sir!
The original kit works best for flying poses (I remember the giant Pterodactyl in The Land That Time Forgot was dead ringer for the aurora kit minus the crest). Its a massive task you've set yourself. The walking pose you see in text books looks really awkward anyway, plus all those thin membranes don't give much of a glue surface to put things together with the wing ends. Having thought about this myself the conclusion I came to was to keep the head, wing tips, legs, chest and back. Cut off the fore arms altogether and re-attach with Milliput having rotated them and freeing them from the membranes. Then I intended to hack about the membranes and do a bunch of filling. This would have rotated the wrists and get the claws on the floor. Yours is a much more direct, braver way. Like everyone else I watch with interest and even though I've dragged an old Lindberg bronto from the loft I'm now thinking a Revell Klaw is a better prospect.

I haven't been ignoring this project. Just have run into some nasty logistical issues. I tried the next fold on the wing, and things didn't work out as I had hoped. Might shoot a couple pics.
The gears are turning, and I am considering a couple other ways to go. Not sure which idea I am going to try next though.

Yeah. Back burner, as I have less than a month to finish up the display projects for WF. As well as my actual contest entries.

I see how it can be done, but it would be very complicated. More cutting apart an more use of the heat gun. Also make some custom parts.
