Hi everybody,
Just joined yesterday and did read about the Airfix Dino Kits. Well, that reminded me about that I had them all and they must be buried somewhere in my parents attic.
However, I did just ask them to look if they can find them and then send them to me to Thailand.
They had been released as follows
1977 Tyrannosaurus Rex
1977 Triceratops
1978 Ankylosaurus
1978 Stegosaurus
1979 Corythosaurus
1979 Dimetrodon
1980 Pteranodon
2005 Dinosaur Collection
2006 Dinosaur Collection 2 (as far as I know...)
The Dinosaur Collection was also produced by Heller but the year is not known to me.
The collections came with cement and paints and brushes.
They had been very nice models and I remember that I loved to build them up and paint them. Other than the Aurora PS kits that had all the same scale the Airfix kits came all in boxes the same size and therefore their scales had been between approximately 1:13 to 1:60. This information might be not 100% accurate as I figured it out when I was a kid by measure them and calculated the scale by measurements given in various books about this dinosaurs.
Lacking technologies like the internet when I was a kid I used to cut out from magazines and catalogues and photographed other things to collect them in books I made by myself and still have. Some of them are with me and others (the majority) are still with my parents.
Underneath You'll find all of the boxes and the approximately scales and I hope I can provide more pictures and information soon.
Hera are the pics:
Sorry for the bad quality but the pictures are very old and are photos taken from photos...
Hope to post some BU's soon and/or seeing some BU's and/or additional information from other members.
Have some fun!
