I am in the process of doing a huge swamp scene with the some of the prehistorix and Jurassic arts add ons. Does anyone have any tips on how to paint water. I would like for it to look look like a pond and not just paint it blue. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

With prehistoric scenes I don't go for pure realism, I tend to go for something a bit more deliberately cliché. So I would paint the water dark grey or dark brown and then put three or four layers of tinted varnish using blues and greens then top it with clear. It looks wet and reflects nicely. Still or brackish water always looks dark. The only bright patches are he reflected sky. Thus make your swamp reflective ad it will reflect your overheard light source and the objects around the edges.
It the uk woodland scenics do a series of kits for various water types including paint resin and texture pads. I'm really looking forward to see what you do with the Prehistoric parts.
