I'm gonna do another armored dino. Not a major undertaking. Just a quick glue-up then paint. Want to sell it to generate some cash for more kits. So, I am looking for suggestions on color schemes, as I want to do something different. For reference, I have already done these two variations

Ya know, that is a good question. For the most part, we basically always see the Ankly in a "earth" tone. A little mixing up the color palette would be intriguing. I went with the Black and Red method just because I wanted to mix it up a little different. I think I've seen a Greenish toned one and a Blue one. I guess the question is: do you want it to be bright and colorful or dulled down and drab? The options are endless.

Right now I am kicking a few ideas around in my head. I was looking through the gallery to get ideas. I really like the reddish hue on the lower portion of this one And I am wondering how it would look with the shell/spikes being something in the grey/white/black range. I'm tired of white/ivory/brown spikes. Just not sure if I can pull it all together to look natural.

Give it a try- worst that can happen is you won't like it had will have to repaint it. Post some pics of it either way so we can see what it looks like. maybe try the shell in several shades of green with the reddish tones and grey tones for the spikes.

I concur with the redish underbelly. I love to look through the gallery for ideas. Although I love the metallic snake-like blue grey from Zallinger's illustrations from my youth, it doesn't lend itself to the skin texture on the kits.

The way that thing was built, it didn't need camouflage.

That'll look good.
You know I think a dark brown or black spikes and plates on a lighter shaded body would look spiffy too. Who knows, maybe his spikes were really reddish in color and a purplish hued body.

I'm liking the gray colors - a nice contrast.

The plan for the spikes is white at the base and working towards black at the tips. Hope to have that done by next weekend, but we'll see. I've got 6 kits in active rotation right now.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Unfortunately, haven't done much with this kit since the last one. Others on the bench have been hogging all the attention.

Well, getting closer to done now. Man, I keep forgetting just how many spikes are on this kit. That's a lot of painting when you are looking at 5 different colors on each one.

It does get a little daunting and tedious, doing meticulous details like this. Hopefully it will all turn out alright and you'll be proud as punch to display your hard labors! It's coming along superbly!
