Morning all. Last night I received the latest photos from the Prehistorix top secret production facility on mainland North America. Mark has sworn me to secrecy over the actual images themselves, but I can describe them to you. Three small base parts cast and ready for production in their finalised painted form. You can see the original white casts of two of these parts on the website. prehistorix.wix.com/prehistorixGo to featured products and search for Baryonyx. What this does mean is that we are on lock-down. I get really excited about the kits and blab about them. Mark keeps his cards close to his chest, so I have agreed to keep everyone updated about the kit, but no pics until the big day. There are some other images on the site such as the box cover, the full-colour instruction booklet and even an early photo of the original. We've splashed the cash so that the first ten or so will have colour box art and instructions. This will stop when the budget runs out and we'll go B&W, but we will keep casting until the moulds wear out. It does means it will be a limited edition though so when it does hit the site/ebay/shop don't drag your feet. Prices are not yet finalised but its a hefty chunk of resin and a massive set of moulds so it will be worth every penny. I for one can't wait to get my copy.

I can update this thread by saying that Mark is preparing the mould for the body as we speak. Its a big lump of resin to cast and a bigger lump of rubber. That means there's only both arms, base and two head parts to go. But they are the fiddly bits and getting those teeth cast is going to be problematic to say the least.

Imagine a clock ticking, like the frustrating drip of a tap. Further imagine a man sitting in an uncomfortable chair looking out of a grey uninspiring window at a dull sky. With each tick he grips the chair harder, his knuckles whitening until he can stand it no longer and screams. Well that's what its like for me currently. I haven't heard from Mark for a couple of days so I know he's working away in his basement laboratory at the secret headquarters. Its like a cross between the Bat Cave, the fortress of solitude and DD's lab. The radio silence means he's moulding the Baryonyx body section and he can't tear himself away from the task, focused and single minded as usual. So the news is there is no news, other than be comforted progress is being made.

Well here it is, real news. As you know, I'm not allowed to show any parts casts, Mark wants it all hush hush, but what you can see in the picture is the rubber for the body mould curing in a massive chunk. Yes the body is now done and awaits resin poured in to the cavity. Its just the head, arms and base plate now.
So if you are counting, tick off small base part, prehistoric shark, withered tree and body, oh and the nameplate is done too!
Visit the website and go to 'Blog' and you'll see it all there in its lovely rubbery blueness. There's a chance there might be a few of these for sale at Wonderfest, did I mention Mark will be at Wonderfest with a whole trailer of kits?

I think hes sharing a table with the chap who publishes 'Prehistoric Times'. There's gonna be a surprise kit which will be released at Wonderfest. I can't tell you what it is. But its cooooooooooool as ice.
I would love to go but I'll be in Brazil visiting my son. Its a long way from the UK but I'd love to have done Wonderfest with Mark.
Other news is that the mould cured perfectly and we already have casts of the body shiny and white. But Mark wont let me show it!

Got an E mail from Steve B righfully busting our chops for the possibility that we'll sell all our stock at wonderfest and anybody stranded at home will miss out. Worry not Steve! Worry not anyone. With the exception of the retired Mesozoic Hunting Ground all our parts and kits are currently available or will be recast for new moulds. The leaping and squatting Mammoth tiger are on their second set and they will be producing nice fresh casts. I know the baby mammoth itself is next on the re-mould list. A tricky three-parter but Mark is not easily deterred.
Add to this the Baryonyx which is new and will be available under normal channels as well as fest, and a really cool big kit to be released at wonderfest but available to all afterwards we are determined not to disappoint.

Well if its a count down from ten, that's ten pieces total, the we are 10 small base part, 9 prehistoric shark , 8 nameplate, 7 tree stump, 6 body. 5..... Yup we are on five now and that's the magnificent base which fits against the sail back and Sailback swamp extension and the proposed and under way hatchery. Head, Jaw and arms to go! See the mould pics for the base on the site Baryonyx page. The base will be cast tomorrow. Just seen a pic of Marks basement with many many Bary body casts on the shelves all ready to fly off the shelves when they are complete. My blog also show the parcel of Bary box art and instructions winging off to the USA. I'm so excited I should be twins......

The base is done and cast. Its a nice slim simple piece of resin which is about to be painted. I can also report that the head is now invested and awaiting removal from the mould ready for Mark to pour the first cast so on the countdown we are on 4.
3 and 2 are arms and 1 is the jaw.

Okay okay......Now I know I say everything we do here at Prehistorix is fabulous and to me it is. The Baryonyx is just as good as all the other stuff but its...well a great big reptile with massive teeth, a crest on its forehead with outsize claws, bulging eyes and a ridge down its back which which are amazing. Having seen all the parts so far I can imagine what it really looks like when its together. Mark has just sent me the pictures of the head and jaw with its perfectly cast teeth and tongue. Hes made the crest a bit bigger and the eyes a little larger than they were on my original which has made it even more aurora and less airfix (I am from the stuffy old UK after all!). I've also gone to town on the graphics and the usual comic book is top quality throughout. So as far as the countdown goes we are on to 3, with only two and one to go. Two is partly done but the ever industrious machine known as Mark Kriess (He's a terminator from the future!) has run out of rubber. So what you'll get is a multi part kit that will also stand alone and be a joy to own with a top quality box and graphics. Plus a name plate don't forget!
I can assure you, though I know of no doubters, that you will want this kit when you see it. But remember, the Graphics are on the way from the UK and usually take a few weeks so the release...well its up to Mark. We are not letting it go until the Graphics and instructions are in the box with the kit. Only when its complete will he let it go out. So start saving!

Seventeen pounds of rubber and well over a pound of resin and the first Baryonyx is now complete! Countdown hits 00! Its lift off time. I am going to sit down and work out how much its going to cost later today, but I was thrilled when I saw the finished article. Its paintwork is not yet finished but even with an undercoat its the business! I've opened a pinterest folder for the forthcoming pics. I'll post it when mark gives me back my licence to thrill!

Well the good news is it will probably be available at the end of next week! If the box art arrives on time. At the very least it will be on the site in all its glory so you can see it ad order it and Mark will dispatch it as soon as the boxes, colour instructions and comic /catalog inserts are inserted!
Be excited be very excited because now its finished, it looks really prehistoric and it looks as though its climbing out the water to eat anything that moves.
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE SITE FOR UPDATES!!!!!!

prehistorix.wix.com/prehistorixYou will need to put the above address in to your favourites. Due to my jaunt to the Amazon I will not be here at communications headquarters for two weeks after next weekend. That means the information for the Baryonyx will be on the site by next Saturday, complete with price and pictures. I'd leave it in the hands of Obidiah my Butler but he is unfamiliar with digital technology and can barely operate a microwave with a mechanical timer. There are 14 kits in the first wave of the release, the first ten with the bonus colour box and instructions. The rest will have the standard black and white graphics but will other-wise be the same. Enjoy!
