Someone on another board mentioned they would love to see all the kits built, but unpainted. That got me to thinking about the idea. I do like the idea of just the raw kits. But I also like the idea of fully painted kits. So, I thought I would ask for more input. With all the kits displayed together all on one table, which would you rather see. Painted or unpainted?

As the way you have the poll going, I assume we can't have both?

I think I am going to have enough trouble rounding up one full set to display. So, I am just going to focus my energy on that. One full set.
Not to say, there won't be other stuff there as well. I mean, if we end up deciding to go with unpainted, I will probably still bring my cave bear / sabertooth dio to display. And if we end up going with painted, I am sure no one would complain about having an original rex untouched by paint either.
I just want to get an idea what most people think.

It's too hard to decide which way as I would love to see both side by side! Since we have to vote, I went with painted! If I drove to Wf from here, I would bring all that I could. I don't trust the Postal system with all my childhood memories. But, alas, the easier form of travel would be by plane with a carry on. I'm dreading the TSA right now!

Yeah, when it comes down to it, I can contribue more painted kits, than unpainted ones to the cause. But I want to see what most people think.

I actually prefer them unpainted nowadays, with perhaps a few small details such as eyes painted in. The colours of the plastic are pretty nice and it's a shame to cover it all up just to produce (as I've sometimes done) a load of kits which have lost their original appeal and their individual colours.

Well, I think the biggest question, is what do we actually have to work with? I've kicked it around in my head, and I think it would be do-able to do both. It would be a bit of a squeeze. But should be able to get he layout on 1 table. We have 4 to work with. So, 2 tables for layouts, leaves us 2 tables for other stuff. If it becomes to cramped, I can always display the boxes on the floor in front of one of the tables/ (not that I have been kicking around any and all contingencies in my head or anything)
But the big question is, can we get enough people to bring enough stuff to pull it off?

Either way, if I brought my kits, they'd be painted. I have no kits, other than some spare parts, that are unpainted.

Yeah, most of mine are either painted, in some stage of painting/assembly, or reissues. So I don't have much to offer in the unpainted department.
This weekend, I hope to dig everything out. Layout the kits to make sure they will fit on one table. And see what I have unpainted. Then I will start a list of what we can reasonably consider possibly being at the show.
I am reasonably confidant that we can put together a set of painted kits. Heck, I have the whole left half covered myself.

The tables are 8 feet long by 30 inches wide. Well, I dug out all my bases and double checked the dimensions. 62 inches by 29 inches. So, yes, a full set will fit on a table. A little close on the width, but plenty of length to be able to set a Rex on the end.
