Here's the Struthiomimus from Primeval Plastics. The "Ostrich Mimic" was a collaboration of Matt Manit and myself. I really wanted to do one of these and I met Matt online because he also wanted to do it! Things worked out and voila, here he is!!! Hollow cast in 13 Purple and Yellow resin pieces to give it that Aurora "styrene" feel. Comments welcome! Pieces broke down... (The head, tail and tree top are cast separately. I took this pic after it was glued.) i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee265/Pre-Scenes2/IMG_1814.jpg*** These kits are sold through Matt and not sure if he still has any available.

I found out this kit didn't do as well as we had hoped. We may never see this kit reissued and that's to bad. I personally was excited about this kit because of it's subject and the detail that was put into it. Just for my education, what could have been the "con" of this kit and why it didn't do very well? Since I didn't personally sell these beauties (I don't know who bought one and who didn't?!), help me understand so it's not repeated in future kits. Please share whether you have one or not. Thanks!

Well, I have one. Things I love about it, are the details, the PS feel, and the way the base seamlessly integrates with the one next to it. The way you can build it kind of like a real PS kit and keep some things moveable.
One of the things that keeps it from ever even being considered for workbench time is I don't really have much interest in the subject. It seems a lot like the giant bird. (which I also haven't gotten around to building yet either)
And actually, I think just a little bit of tweaking to the kit could make it feel more PS-y and fun. That would make it more interesting, and hence more likely to actually get built in the near future. A little adjustment to the head to give it a bit more personality. And maybe a way to change the leg poses. Because having both legs bent, or straight would totally change the dynamic of the kit.

Hi Steve,
For me, it is a matter of time to purchase these add-on kits. I only started back into re-collecting the PS kits a year and a half ago. I had all of the original PS kits many years ago growing up... and left them at my parents house over 30 years ago. Somehow most of them either got damaged or thrown out until I recently reacquired all of the original kits once again. I have purchased a couple kits from you and some from Mike at Alchemy. The problem for me is time to build them, and time/money to eventually purchase more add-on kits.
I do not have the Struthiomimus and would purchase one if any where left to buy. I think part of the problem is how to make people aware that these kits exists and how to easily purchase them is one thing. There are a lot of people who buy the original PS kits on eBay and they are probably not aware that the add-on kits are available to enhance one's collection. I sure this lack of awareness contributes to a kit not particularly selling well. The other con could be that the cost for an add-on is generally higher than what one would pay for an original styrene PS kit. Thus, some people may not be able to afford these add-on resin kits. (I understand the nature of the creating a resin kit and why the cost is higher, but maybe everyone does not.)
[For me, I also build car, chopper, and trike models which also take up some of my time and money.]
I recently just finished building and painting the Pternanodon (Flying Reptile), except for the name plate. I'll try to take some pictures of it and post them for all to see. I thought it came out fairly well.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on the subject. For me it is more an issue of time to acquire these add-on kits, and not any deficiency of a particular kit itself. Better advertising could also help sell more kits....
Ken

Unfortunately, according to Matt, this kit will never see a reissue. Sorry!
