Well Boys and Girls, it is official: Prehistoric Scenes (tm) will make an official start, again, to the Series. Dennis sent me this today:
"Merry Christmas to you, Steve. Enjoy your kits. Oh, and be on the lookout for some exciting news regarding Prehistoric Scenes™ from Dencomm. It’s time we get that property restarted, too! I think you’re going to love it. Best, Dennis"
This'll be one crazy year if PS makes a return. It'll be a big boost for WF too! My One question I had to ask Dennis is: "Will the Lemon Steggy make an appearance?"
WA-HOOOOO

Just curious questions I have to ask: * Why now? * Where were they 4 -5 years ago when the Add-ons were just getting going? * Is Andy Yanchus BEHIND the resurgence? * Who is the sculptor? * What are they planning on adding to the realty? * Resin or Styrene?

This was kind of brought up on another forum so I'll ask here since we're all big PS lovers.
- How important is the "PREHISTORIC SCENES" name and logo on your kits? Let's say you got an Alchemy Works resin add-on kit, is it important to have the PS printed on the box? Would it be more "Authentic" and have more meaning?
I'm curious to know your thoughts on this.

Well, considering that most of the time, you don't even get a box. Doesn't matter much to me. Now, a cool box with the name would be sweet, Much like the retro instructions Primeval does. It's more like the icing on the cake. For me, the main course is the kit itself. How well it blends with the rest of the line. How the base fits with the others. How much thought went into the placement. The sculpt, and to a lesser extent, the castings. And how well it goes together. For me. No matter how cool the packaging is, it still won't be Aurora. It won't be something I longed for sitting on a store shelf when I was 8 years old. So, it doesn't have the same magic as the originals. That is why I love the original boxes. Because that is what I was looking at 'in the store'. Especially the 71's with the cool side panel artwork. (don't know why I was still looking at 71 boxes in the store in 1974 and 1975, but that is what they had)

I agree with Trevor here. It's the whole package - the colorful snap-together plastic, the unique and beautifully illustrated boxes as well as the "Prehistoric Scenes" name - that evokes it all for me.
Revell has re-issued many of the same beautiful kits. But (missing pieces not withstanding), it's just not the same. They don't have the same character.
Primeval's new designs have come the closest, I think, in terms of understanding the real character of the original kits. I just wish they were styrene plastic kits, to complete those last two most vital elements of the package: the building experience and the affordability. (And an Aurora-style box might be possible in that format as well.)

I am trying NOT to get too excited about this whole Denncom thing. I agree with everything Trevor has said (especially since we were pretty close to the same age when PS came out). I have never been disappointed about any of the add-ons that have been done by Mike , Steve and Larry in their pursuit of detail to match up with the base layouts and to sculpt/ mold in an "Aurora- like" fashion". If Denncomm pursues this in the same frame of mind, I will totally support the efforts and will be a dependable customer. If it takes the name and deviates from the originals series and the current add-ons, then we all need to talk.................
